Meeting: PDIS is invited to join the Professional Photographers Guild of Colorado Springs for their annual open house meeting on 10 April from 5pm-6:30pm which will include light refreshments, a raffle for various prizes, and will be followed by a presentation by Gary Hughes called "The Headshot Side Hustle" from about 6:30-8:30pm. Meeting: Our next meeting will be Thursday April 24th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in the Venue room on the upper level of Library 21c. Doors open at 5:00. The main focus of our meeting will be our competition. We do plan to also have short talks by various members. If you have something you would like to share with the group, please let Chris Nelson or Brenda Herzinger know or by contacting us on our website .

Competition: Our first 2025 competition themes are vintage, digital illustrations and open. Vintage can either be photos or digital creations that look old AND/OR photos or creations of things that are old. This is also our first digital illustrations competition so it can be of any theme. Our judge for this competition is Kathleen McFadden who owns a local gallery called Kathleen McFadden's Range Gallery. The cost is $2 per entry and there is no limit on the number of entries. You must be present to enter.

Field Trip #2: Our second field trip this year will be to the Fountain Creek Nature Center on April 28th from 8:00 - 10:00am. We plan to head down to the Fountain Creek Nature Center to photograph pelicans as they are traveling through our area. Last year we were a few days too late to see them so we would like to try again. Location: 320 Peppergrass Lane, Fountain, CO 80817 Cost is free. We plan to meet in the Nature Center parking lot at 7:45am. Sign up at the welcome desk at our meeting on Feb 27th or by contacting us on our website.

Field Trip #3: Our third field trip this year will be to the Wild Animal Sanctuary up in Keenesburg, CO on Sunday May 18th. We plan to meet up at the sanctuary that morning at the ticket counter no later than 9:30am. The venue is approximately 90 minutes from the north side of Colorado Springs. Cost is $50 per person who are 13-69 years and $20 per person for those 70 years or more. It does take several hours to go through the sanctuary. We do plan to eat lunch at the restaurant they have on site or you are welcome to bring your lunch. We can organize carpools once we know who is going.
